Project Scope

Partum Engineering worked with AtkinsRéalis to provide some early engineering pre-feasibility work for a design associated with the 33kV overhead powerline network for Callide Windfarm.

Included in the design are:

  • 45km of twin bundle 33kV OHL Line modelling with PLS_CADD
  • Pole and Conductor Schedule
  • Hi Level Bill of Quantities (Assembly Level)
  • Typical Pole General Arrangement Drawings
  • Basis of Design Criteria

Challenges Overcome

  • Challenging Terrian and vegetation
  • Extensive Network of backbone and spur lines and tee-offs
  • Assessing Direct Buried vs Base plate mounted poles due to loading on poles

Solution

  • Assessed terrain and undertook profile modelling to determine powerline bay lengths and pole heights to manage ground clearances
  • Implemented base plate mounted poles
