Project Scope

Partum Engineering were engaged to provide the design, assembly, testing and delivery of four ABB dual tap 22/11kV HV 433V LV Dyn11 Dry Try Power Transformers for the Snow Hydro 2.0 temporary power station.

Challenges Overcome

  • Sourcing suitable second-hand transformers and undertaking acceptance testing
  • Sourcing second hand shipping container and modifying accordingly to house 2x step up transformers each
  • Design of forced ventilation for container combined with the forced cooling for the power transformer
  • Expedited delivery timeframes to ensure transformer solution was available for the temporary power station commissioning

Solution

  • General arrangement design ensures maintenance access, electrical clearances, cable rating and bending radius, earthing and cable ladder supports
  • Power and earthing systems assessment interfacing with generators and HV switchboard
  • Building services design including lighting, small power, emergency exits and panic doors and smoke detectors
  • Structural assessment of contain floor supports and reinforcing for transformer hold down
  • Secondary electrical and control systems design for the container and power transformer forced cooling
