Partum Engineering worked with WestGold on a comprehensive electrical infrastructure project for the Beta Hunt mine site.
The project involved:
- Preliminary feasibility studies to assess the capacity and capability of the existing power network for future upgrades.
- Site Investigation and Assessment – Initial analysis of the BHP-EAF-PP027 structure and adjacent structures to assess pole modification feasibility.
- 800m Overhead Powerline Design – Developed a new line for East Alpha, including earthworks pad designs for pole structures and underground cable rating calculations.
- Electrical and Power System Design – Prepared detailed design drawings for cable installations, capacitor bank sizing, and updated the Karora single line diagram.
- Power System Studies – Conducted studies to validate system upgrades, including protection coordination, earthing design, and a High Voltage Submission with NER signoff.
- Capacity and Upgrade Assessments – Evaluated upgrades needed to reach a 10MVA capacity for East Alpha or Silverlake 11kV lines.
This project highlights Partum Engineering’s capabilities in delivering robust power infrastructure solutions for mining operations, from preliminary assessments to high-voltage compliance and system upgrades.
